During the current pandemic, Altair Sign & Light, along with our sister company ASAP Signs, had the honor of working with Piedmont Hospital installing signs at their new building. And today we wanted to give back to them.

Today we worked along side our partners at Qdoba to donate lunch for 100 ER and ICU staff at Piedmont Hospital. Our partner Tim Velleca and his family from Qdoba also delivered lunch to the PT/OT group and Pharmacy Staff at Grady Hospital, thanks to other community members generous donations!

We also made the “Heroes Work Here” signs for the Piedmont staff who continue to be HEROES 24/7 everyday in the community!

Altair was the Primary Sponsor for the 2019 Couch Potato Triathlon

An opportunity to have a lot of fun AND raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Georgia Chapter ? We’re in! Altair was the primary sponsor for the 2019 Couch Potato Triathlon at Main Event. As a locally owned and operated business, we pride ourselves on ongoing community involvement.

The “coach potato triathlon” was a guy’s afternoon of bowling, shuffleboard, and billiards at Main Event in Alpharetta. Each participant paid an entry fee, donations to the MS society were optional. Donations were matched up to a certain amount by Altair. Leftover money from the entry fees were also donated. They raised a grand total of $3,600 from about 40 individuals and the matching donations.

In 2017 Altair Sign & Light was proud to provide sign services to both new stadiums, Suntrust Park and Mercedes Benz Stadium, in Greater Atlanta. Suntrust Park opened in spring 2017 at the beginning of the Braves season. Use this link to learn more about the Suntrust Park project .

Mercedes Benz Stadium opened in late summer just in time to kick off the Falcons 2017/2018 season. Altair provided installation services on over 2600 various wayfinding and vinyl signs throughout the park.

Wayfinding signs point us in the right direction to navigate a given space, inside or outside. Good examples include directional signs in an airport, stadium or hospital. They are throughout the stadium directing people to their gates, sections and seats. Wayfinding signs also identify restrooms, elevators and exits.

Wall vinyl graphics are used to advertise any product, brand or message on a variety of surfaces including painted wood, sheetrock and metal. Vinyl wall covering were used at Mercedes Benz to advertise various beverages available for sale, sponsors and NFL highlights.

The Importance of Having The Right Sign Permits

If you want a sign, you will need a permit. The process and fees for obtaining permits vary depending on the jurisdiction so a little investigating up front may save future delays!

Do all new signs need a permit?
Yes

Do temporary signs, such as banners or commercial real estate signs need permits?
Yes, most jurisdictions require a permit.

Do I need a permit for a sign modification?
If the modification is within weeks or days of obtaining a sign permit, probably not, but most signs require a permit. Panel exchanges for existing ground signs do not require a permit in most jurisdictions.

How do I find out sign zoning and ordinance laws?
Call the jurisdiction's planning and zoning department and provide the address or google it. For example, google: "City of Alpharetta sign ordinance."

What kind of information is required when filing for a sign permit?

You will need a rendering of where the wall sign will be positioned on the wall, showing length of wall and height of building. A mounting and lighting detail for the sign with all dimensions is also needed.
For ground/freestanding signs, a rendering of the sign in its proposed location, a site plan to scale with dimensions from the sign to the nearest property line, a foundation plan and framing detail signed and sealed by an engineer.
The sign contractor will need to provide their business license and certificate of insurance at time of submittal. Most jurisdictions require a tenant/landlord owner authorization letter allowing the sign company to pursue the sign permit on your behalf.

When do I need a site plan and how do I obtain one?
A site plan to scale is usually needed anytime you want to build a new ground or freestanding sign. To obtain a site plan, you will need to consult with a licensed civil engineer/surveyor or file an open records request with the jurisdiction where the sign is proposed. Some jurisdictions have a site plan in their archives.
