What does it actually mean to LED retrofit
your facility, office or warehouse? Retrofit is defined as to install (new or modified parts or equipment) in something previously manufactured or constructed. An LED retrofit converts traditional lighting to LED lighting. The cost of LED retrofitting is a long term investment. The benefits of LED lighting
for your business are immediate. These benefits include:
- Reduce Maintenance costs:
The constant dimming and flickering of bulbs is non-existent with LED lighting. LEDs do not burn a filament so they last substantially longer than traditional incandescent, fluorescent or compact fluorescent bulbs. Most LEDs last from 50,000 to 100,000 hours without any noticeable decrease in light output. This considerably decreases the costs of new lamps, fixtures and labor to repair lighting.

The technicalities of how LEDs save energy is beyond the scope of this blog. In general, you can save up to 80% in energy costs annually. In addition, rebates and incentives are offered through the Federal Government and electric utility providers.
- Reduce environmental waste:
Fluorescent lights as well as Compact Fluorescent Lamps contain small amounts of mercury. LEDs do not contain any mercury or other hazardous materials so pose no risk of exposure to people or the environment.

LEDs are less sensitive to temperature changes than fluorescent lights. They stay brighter in cold weather. They also offer better quality lighting and more direct focus on the area being lit.
